I recently got a spanking new laptop and treated myself to Deep Fritz 13 chess s/w. The "Deep" denotes that this is a multiprocessor version and hence even more powerful. Even when using only 4 of my puter's 8 processors it can analyze over 10 million positions a second with ease. As a surprise it hosts a "cloud" function that allows you to access other ppl's puters to help in the analysis - even ones running a different engine! Also, it also checks continuously to see if the same position has been visited before by someone ese and gives the value there search engine found, If you do a deeper search it will add your result and credit your screen name. If you're the first to look at the poisition, it will credit you as its "discoverer". Not too many folks seem to be running multiprocessor s/w now (its more expensive than standard, and pointless on single processor puters) so my screen name Bluff-King-Hal is being notched up all over the database. I'm looking at "classic"games like the fischer/spassky 72 match, so many positions from them are being loooked at by other people too. Most amateur players, including me, are nothing like strong enough to need chess s/w of this strength but these extra features are fun!
