Hello fellow chess players !
My name is Ian and I am from Birmingham, enjoy playing chess very much been playing since about the age of 11 when I started but really serious the last 6 years pretty much every day. After doing some research on various locations around the country to find where they hold chess clubs or gatherings such as parks or town centres. So when I read up on Holland Park I was so happy to hear of such a place, I even phoned up to see if there were chess players there at this time of year so after this I was determined to come down and check the place out. After arranging my coach I travelled down on Saturday 15th March 2014 and visited the chess and bridge shop got my chess clock, vinyl board and pieces. So then getting the underground tube to Holland park walked from the station to the park. Walking through amazed by the botanical features and woodlands eventually walked passed the chairs and tables occupied by the chess players and spectators, seeing the atmosphere and ambience of it all was a sight, excited at the fact I had travelled down to have a chance to play some street players in the park London town ! I asked one gentleman if there was a chance to play, where he kindly introduced me to Adi and Yidnik and also Osmund also Peter and Ali, there was also Yuri and Tom where over the next few hours we all played some games of great chess. Just to come down and see it and play some games was great and hope to continue this just coming back from there yesterday ( 25th March ) had a spare day to come down and see and yet again was a great day also send massive thanks to Adi, Frank, Aiysha, Peter, Yuri and of course Holland Park café for the croissants bon appetite lovely day and in great company.
