As promised, one of my ongoing tourney reports, this time the just played Coulsdon LP. With no up-to-date LP grade, the arbiters used my Rapidplay grade of 129, which would have prevented me in playing in the U120 section. I think it would have been better to have used my last listed LP grade of 119, which would, so it was just as well that some players wanted to play up so that they could raise the bar to U130, allowing me tio play in the lower section. As well as having things on my mind I am well out of practice and to have made me play in an U170 would be quite unfair imo. However, more to follow on that.
Well, it was a tourney of two halves, suffering two dreadful "miniature" defeats on the first day, then two imo pretty good wins on the second, including, my pride and joy, a win with black against a 161, probably my best ever result! I will enjoy telling you about that one, but tempting as it is to gloss over my defeats, I will reveal them in order, so we start with my first drubbing by a 113. Generally one learns much more by one's losses than ones wins, so it is important not to ignore them. Annotations are by Fritz 10 set to thinking 100 sec per move at pushing 2M positions per sec. There are extra things I can add but at first I think I'll just post the game as annotated and then comment on it later. Alas some characters dont paste properly, so I'll post this intro then the game after I have cleaned it up.

Ok here we are. Cleaning this up took quite a while, so I dont think I'll bother doing that with the other games. Instead I'll use the Blunder Check which stores the Fritz evaluations, doing out without the need for annotation symbols. It also writes fewer variations, which will make the game easier to follow. Basically my play was so dreadful I'm tempted not to post this game, but here it is anyway. A fine lesson in how not to play chess!

Ok here is Round 2. Decided to leave out the evaluation scores, as I had to clean up the annotations anyway. A much better game by me that I not only draw but had a winning position a number of times but failed to convert. First I'll just post Fritz commentary, but may add comment later:
